Rajon Rondo in the hierarchy of leaders?

-
--- Rajon Rondo is one of the top leaders of the league, there's no doubt. Formidable smuggler (showing the largest average assists in the championship with 12.3 per game ), defender sprawling permanent candidate at triple-double and cons of a master equation ipe NBA champion in 2008 and valiant finalist in 2010 who still inspires fear despite an average age Canon, the leader of the Celtics is carving a place in the cream of NBA point guards.

--- But where does he belong to this elite? Should we place it at the height of the two oligarchs enthroned at the top of the profession are Chris Paul and Deron Williams? If we redistribute the cards in the league, the lucky franchise that would be free to choose their players from the top should they wonder if Rondo does not deserve as much consideration as CP3 and D-Will at the time to pick a leader ?

--- This issue comes and goes for a little while now (actually, every time the green goblin fate unthinkable performance), each time attracting highly divergent opinions from everyone and anyone. This is so because Rondo displays a record recent collective lot more eloquent than any current except the venerable leader and murderer Derek Fisher, he is still living out of the playoffs by having traveled through and sometimes it seems to be the main reason for the excellent performance of this team Boston. But obviously this is not enough.

--- Many argue that it is largely overestimated. Specifically he plays a few degrees above its actual level because it takes advantage of the presence of three all-stars and future Hall of Famers, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. This is not wrong in itself. But it is curious to see a player be lowered because it benefits the talent of his teammates and operated. Ultimately, this is it not the purpose of collective play, ensuring that the value of a team that is greater than the simple sum of individualities that compose it? It would be contrary to good sense to deny the force of others if it makes us better, especially since this joint is marked by a beautiful reciprocity: if Rondo takes advantage of the presence of his teammates, every Celtic treading the floor benefits from the presence of No. 9. Here is the whole point of a team sport and it is often through such synergy that games are won. So why the old sophomore from Kentucky should pay being accompanied by great players and make a profit, especially if it contributes to the stack victories ? It would rather if it was not the case one might criticize, as has been widely criticized such individualities as more talented than anyone Allen Iverson or Stephon Marbury .

--- Enjoying caliber players to present his side should be regarded as a strength, especially if it is reciprocal. It is even something we should always look for in a leader. Generally, the value of a leader should be measured against the resilience of his team as much if not more, than from his crop. Perhaps we should also credited Rondo for excellent yields of Garnett, Pierce and Allen, all three struggling in parallel with age and their vicious sneer years during which qu'indiscutable as their number one option team, they had as many shots they wanted. Because casually, turning a team with three players of this caliber is beyond the reach of the first visit. In Boston, tickets shots are perfectly distributed and distributed, the shooting took are often in positions of comfort to everyone, the players in shape are always highlighted, etc. ... Certainly, Rondo did not solely responsible (Doc Rivers and intelligence of C's right to have their share of praise), but when the sauce take this way, it's hard to say that the leader does there is for little or nothing.

--- By saying that the value of a leader is measured partly in terms of performance of his team, we understand that it is not really possible to compare two point guards operating in two different teams. Unless these two conductors are parachuted in formations that are each the clone of another, it is difficult to tell where the beginning of their playmaking effect on their team and begins production of other members regardless of the contribution of the leader.

--- So, if Chris Paul and Deron Williams are performing in many more areas than Rondo (ability to bear the responsibilities of scoring, shooting, free throws), this does not mean that their overall impact on the game is higher than his own. Celtic has less weapons, but perhaps they have such firepower (playmaking, defense ,...) that even amputated, his game has an impact equivalent higher or more decisive than that printing Deron Williams or Chris Paul with their full arsenal. Perhaps also there a lot of things we do not notice and have a positive effect on the game because the fact of such intentionally get back to release the spotlights to other players team most likely do damage (depending on the people who defend them because they are hot or boiling) or "sleep" opponents and surprise at a decisive moment, can be considered a contribution positively to the victory as much as active action (basket, decisive pass ,...). That player then who does not hesitate make this sensible indentation where it can bring significant benefit to his team is not there a bigger victory than a factor of player who does not change its policy one iota? It was often criticized for Jameer Nelson to take some shots too, rather than serving to benefit Dwight Howard does not consider that this ability to be discreet for the sake of his training as a quality.

--- I'm not saying all that I just described applies to the demon in green shorts from Boston, but there is no indication that this is not wholly or partly the case . None of this is verifiable, but the fact is that Boston is one of the dominant teams for three years now where Utah and New Orleans have never been more than brave challengers. But we can not determine what is the scope of responsibility of Rondo in the omnipotence of Surly Greens. If anything, it is a winning factor much higher that "we have the impression and the number 9 would, with its own weapons, led the Jazz and Hornets the same level as do Williams and Paul now if we turned the tables. impossible to know really.

--- In my vision of things, victory is the ultimate goal and nothing to suggest that all actions, intentional non-actions and decisions Rondo placed end-to-end in every game unless his team closer to victory than it is for Deron Williams and Chris Paul. It is this global impact, or rather the answer to the question "how this player is it a factor in the victory," which for me really determines the level of a player. This goes far beyond numbers and even what can be observed, and therefore it is not really measurable in its totality. So the question that Rondo, Paul or Williams is best able to his team win, I do not really give a straight answer.

--- Nevertheless, I would not say that Rondo is the equal of Paul Williams or even if I just stated that its influence in the victory (or rather in the tilting of the game to victory ) is perhaps more important than it seems and that accordingly, we can not categorically say that it is less than the Hornet or the Jazzman. Because if I change my angle of view and does not reason in terms of overall intake and ef fectif player's influence on the victory but compared to what a player is able to do to win games, Rondo is sitting on the step below that of the two point guards competing. Indeed, if their teams need a particular action to switch the fate of the game in their favor, Chris Paul and Deron Williams will perform this specific action with a reasonable chance of success, whatever the type of action that victory requires. Not Rondo.

--- If when the game is played, its formation requires a password well put together, a solid defensive presence or a complete system performance, it will not default. But if she needs at this time precise and decisive is a field goal, a shot back open or someone who can get points only by his talent scorer because defenses are at their maximum concentration and the Other options are blocked, it will not be the man for the job or at least, will not have the reliability needed in these areas to rely on something other than luck to achieve this positive outcome. While with Paul and Williams, all possibilities that may require the game and especially the victory are effectively covered by their wide array of basketball.

--- So in the end, no matter how strong it in the areas it controls and also important is its propensity to win games for his team as suggested by the performance in Boston for three years, I can not raise Rajon Rondo on the same pedestal as Deron Williams and Chris Paul . All my thinking revolves around the idea that the best player is one that most closely matches his team to victory, even if in fact the Celtic is perhaps as much a factor of victory than the other two leaders with which I try to compare its ability to answer this in a timely and decisive win a match, whatever the type of action that is required is much lower due its poignant scoring gaps.

--- After the day we think that despite its flaws (if they still balafrent his game) its ability to lead his team to victory is undoubtedly greater than that of anyone in the NBA among point guards I will assume he is the best, even if his ability to perform any action required by this game for endorsing the meeting is still sorely lacking. A bit like Jason Kidd in 2002 that despite weaknesses quite similar to that of Rondo (offensive efficiency: the Nets' playmaker HOOK not even the 40% field goal) had dragged his team to the finals and landed a few miles the title of MVP in the regular season, which has fallen to Tim Duncan (for fifty votes). Gary Payton (22.1 pts to 46.7%, came in sixth position of the MVP voting that year) was better able to meet any need his team to turn the match in his favor Kidd but everyone's opinion, Kidd had a much bigger impact, was a bigger factor in victory, making him the best point guard in the league.

--- Rondo does not yet there (and even if he was, it does not happen would perhaps not because of the legendary Big Three soon Shamrock City) but that prospect is not out of reach. By cons, it is not the only wolf darting eye black with rage and envy on the unofficial title of best point guard in the world. Far, far away.
