Apocalypse Now

I recently discovered the manga Dragon Head , and I must admit that I enjoy.
is a true compendium of all the imagination and all the esoteric apocalyptic floods the Eastern production. And like any oriental worthy of the name, the author departs from the American conception of the disaster movie, where natural disasters or manmade used to test the courage of heroes, its ability to overcome tests and if necessary, to rebuild a new world, preferring a less positivist philosophy: the end of the world is inevitable, it's part of the natural cycle things to disappear one day and all events through which the hero does not lead to the understanding of this universal order. So a search heuristic which starts by contemplating the unfathomable abyss down which one guesses of unknown and uncontrollable forces that can devastate any surface:

Mochizuki, Dragon head , 1999
Faced with a huge crater spewing lava continuously, Teru and Ako had the bright idea to try to go there by helicopter to the bottom, without success so the volcano is deep

Otomo, Akira , 1984
The crater of the "bomb" has a similar fascination with the motorcycle gang of Kaneda, who has just forbidden to go and brave the gaze.

Toriyama, Dragon Ball , 1990
Goku and Frieza fight over a pit located at the ceour the planet Namek, who will soon disappear in the middle of a beautiful fireworks.

Ok, talk about heuristic search is probably not the best qualifier for Dragon Ball. Son Goku why he bothers to look for meaning, while fighting so enjoyable primary? Still, the images of the Namek verge of explosion, amid pillars of fire, tornadoes and lightning storms are among the finest we have left the manga, and a good half scenes Dragon Head destruction it is, in my opinion, directly accountable. The other half

draws around (should say there when digging in the Japanese classics). It is thus of tsunamis:

Kurumada, Knights of the Zodiac, 1986

Or, the latest fashion, style Planet of the Apes, draw the landmark building in Tokyo with the two towers ( if anyone knows his name that would suit me) in the midst of desolation and emptiness

Mochizuki, Dragon head , 1999

Clamp, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, 2004
(via the hero and the weft-end of the world to their old style classic X, 1992)
